Job Description

A minimum of 2+ years experience in physical substation design, or related experience, is required. An Associate's degree in drafting & design is preferred. Successful candidates with more than five years of experience may be placed in more senior level designer titles depending on skill.

  • Strong knowledge of the major components of substations and the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation.
  • Strong knowledge and proven experience creating the bill of materials as it relates to a substation.
  • Strong knowledge physical substation layout, elevations, grounding, foundations, and conduit
  • Ability to produce steel drawings is a plus.
  • General knowledge of control circuits and ground grid theory & design
  • Extensive knowledge of CADD programs such as AutoCAD
  • Strong knowledge of civil/structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to effectively convey information to team members, management, and clients when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
